Office Beauty Rules: Nails, Hair & Fragrance Edition

Whether we like it or not, appearance in the work place is very important. Even if you are the best at what you do, you will give your coworkers or clients, the wrong impression of the work you produce if you come into the office with messy hair, chipped nails and coffee stains on your blouse.

Although, going into the office with too much makeup and overly done hair might make it seem as though you’re putting more effort into your looks than your work. Keep it simple in the day-to-day routine of the work place.

Keeping this balance in mind may be difficult, so here are some helpful tips for your nails, hair and wearing fragrance.

Short, simple nails and a neutral shade is the way to go in the office space. So you won’t have to worry about chipped nails when running out the door in the morning, we recommend gel nail polish which can last up to 3 weeks! Our favorite brand is gelliebeans™ because it’s easy to apply and remove, and it gives you a salon quality finish for a fraction of the price. Any shade from the French Manicure Collection is perfect for work and any occasion.

If you prefer the traditional nail lacquer, then take a few extra minutes to completely remove the polish if your nails happen to be chipped— bare nails are better than chipped nail polish. Reapplying a thin layer of top coat  to your nails and cuticle oil to your nail beds helps the polish to last longer and keeps nails looking healthy. Nailbuds™ top coat and cuticle oil are perfect for this! Nailbuds™ mini size bottles are ideal to stash in your purse or desk for quick touch ups.

Even on your busiest of days, there is an endless list of hairstyles to choose from for work. From a simple ballerina bun, a high ponytail, or a side braid, all give a professional look without overdoing it. If washing your hair in the morning, be sure to always dry your hair completely– the wet hair look is very unprofessional. If you don’t have time in the morning to wash your hair, try a dry shampoo instead. Greasy hair is unacceptable in the workplace.

Easy on the fragrance— one to two sprays will suffice. Some of your coworkers may have an allergy to fragrance, so be considerate and if you must freshen up on your favorite perfume— use it in the bathroom and not at your desk.
